Chemistry 101 – What chemicals are used to treat the water

There are two main products used to keep your water clean. These are Clarifier and Stain and Scale Preventer.

Clarifier is used to turn harmful bacteria’s into a solid state so the filter can capture them. This method of cleansing your hot tubs water can cause a scum line along the water line of your hot tub. But with the use of a natural enzyme product, as opposed to other types of clarifiers, instead of turning bacteria into a solid state, bacteria is turned into a gas and dissolved.

Stain and Scale preventers help prevent oxidising and scale build up on the heating element, corrosion on the surface of the shell, and staining and discoloration of the water caused by minerals

If you purchase an ozone ready hot tub and install an ozone generator it will reduce the amount of chemicals you need to apply to your spa. Ozonators work by creating an ozone gas, which is injected into the water killing any bacteria and purifying water by up to 3,000 times better than sanitisers.
